Sunday was a good day for Belgium in the Acrobatic Gymnastics, with Julie van Gelder, Ineke van Schoor and Kaat Dumarey completing a clean sweep of the gold medals. They started with victory in the all-around final on Friday before adding gold in the balance and dynamic finals to the list.

Meanwhile, Germany`s Karina Winter won women`s individual archery in style, defeating Denmark`s Maja Jager 6-2 in the final. Eight of Winter’s 12 arrows landed in the maximum 10 zone.

Austria may top the table after the first day of the Athletics competition – which has a team format – but the undisputed star was Azerbaijan athlete Hayle Ibrahimov. The Ethiopian-born runner won the 1500m and 5000m, with just 75 minutes between each event. He even managed a lap of honour after each victory.

Serbia won the men’s Water Polo gold medal, but goal of the day was a superb long-range effort by Greece’s Nikolaos Delagrammatikas, who helped his side to the bronze medal.

After showing off some of Baku’s most beautiful sights, the men’s Cycling road race delivered a dramatic finale, with Spain’s Luis Leon Sanchez Gil winning a sprint finish against Andriy Grivko of Ukraine and the Czech Republic`s Petr Vakoc.
